Apuesta Daluma is one of the main heroines of Paradise War, and appears in Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki.

Appearance

Apuesta has dark skin and wavy light green neck-length hair with bangs that can partially cover her face. She also pointy, almost elfin, ears and a couple red dots on her forehead that resemble bindi. She is tall and exotic looking. On the island, she tended to wear a light but formal-looking long dress with an abdomen cutout.

Background

Apuesta was named the representative from the Daruma Guild to fight in a galactic proxy war to determine the leader of a new pirate nation. On the island, she meets Minamida, the island's caretaker, Miron Pham, the island's doctor and school teacher, and her main opponents: Alea Balta, Dird Shank, Palty Jurai, and later, Shou Kukoma. The space pirate guilds did not want to name one of their most prominent pirate members for the fight (and risk them dying) and so all ended up nominating young, but gifted, members as their proxy war representatives. She was 215th in line for the guild’s succession.

She is a brilliant strategist but not a great fighter. Her favored Guardian features a ball on the end of it's arm that can capture and deactivate other Guardians. In OVA 5, she is shown to be a master of booby-traps, which she can control remotely with her abacus computer.

Her parents were killed in pirate battles and she grew up an orphan. When the guild fell apart and orphans were abandoned by the remnants of the Daluma Guild, she not only took care of herself but also the younger orphans that she had lived with.

She has a great mind for business and developed a powerful network of associates that provide her with high quality second-hand goods which she sells at a great profit to support the orphaned children. Although normally so shy that she can't speak without the aide of a computer terminal that looks like an abacus, when she runs her market on Banjo Island she is a sharp and ruthless taskmaster to Shou and the girls, whom she employs to help her. Ringo Tatsuki tried to recruit her for Jurai's accounting division but Seto stopped her, saying it was selfish to claim all the galaxy's talent.
