Artificial humans were created by the ancient race of the Senshi civilization by using artificial bodies and Core Crystals.
The artificial humans may be artificial but their bodies are very close to the real thing, to the point that they can even have children. Kenshi's mother, Rea Masaki, is one and is originally from Geminar. Two artificial humans on Geminar are Doll and Neizai One/Ulyte Mest. Babalun Mest was also the host for the malicious Gaia. If the body of an Artificial Human is killed, their memories and personality will be stored within their core crystal. If the technology exists, a new artificial body can be created. Alternately, implanting a core crystal into the body of a normal human can cause a dual identity to manifest in the person. If the identities can reconcile, both can coexist and their physical body can transform according to which personality is in control. Otherwise, the dominate personality of the Artificial Human will all but eradicate the original host. The only way to truly kill an Artificial Human is to completely destroy their core crystal.
Their original purpose was to act as pilots for Seikishi. The Seikishi were always made to be battle-ready machines but their civilization was peaceful and they were instead used for entertainment purposes in sports based and competitive battle tournaments. Originally, they were piloted by normal humans, but the games proved to be too dangerous and Artificial humans were created that would specialize as Seikishi pilots.
Unfortunately, because of the lack of real world experience, the Artificial Humans tended to misunderstand orders. It is believed this is what caused Gaia's and other pilots to try and destroy the world. After Gaia went berserk, Artificial Humans were implanted with mechanisms to control them, which could possibly be passed down to any children they may have.
