While on vacation on Earth, Seina brings Fuku with him as he visits his old friend Tenchi Masaki and reunites with all of the girls living in his home.
Full Recap
In the early morning, while everyone else is still asleep in the Yamada residence, Fuku wakes up next to Seina and grabs at an orange ball that's connected to the cord of the room's light fixture. Predictably, it falls and crashes on Seina's face.
While NB suffers from loneliness, Seina takes Fuku on a bicycle ride, where climbing the hills is a lot easier now thanks to his body enhancements. He stops to show Fuku Tenchi Masaki's house sprouting above the trees and tells her he's met most of the girls at Tenchi's house apart from Washu, her mother. They continue riding, but the handbrakes suddenly give out and they crash through a guardrail and into the trees below. Inexplicably, they land right next to Tenchi and Ryo-Ohki right as they're busy harvesting carrots.
Tenchi and Seina catch up after not seeing each other for a while, and Seina brings up a certain Washu Hakubi and that he's never seen her before (along with Mihoshi, who Tenchi explains is often away working for the GP). Suddenly, Washu appears next to them, and when Senia can't believe that a child like her could be a brilliant scientist and Fuku's mother, she then changes into her adult form and he gets even more confused.
As Seina has only seen Ryo-Ohki in her human form, Washu forcibly transforms Ryo-Ohki back into her cabbit form, making Seina realize that she's the same one that's always with Sasami. He then asks Washu if Fuku can change into a human form like Ryo-Ohki, and Washu says she'll only change when she deems it necessary.
Meanwhile, Amane, Kiriko, and Ryoko volunteer to work at the Yamada family's new supermarket. Amane jokes with Kiriko about her "practicing" for her future life and career, while Ryoko proves to be an exemplary organizer. Later on, the store gets so crowded that special admission is required to enter, but most of the shoppers are just guys who want to see the lovely new employees.
Sasami greets Tenchi, Seina, and Washu and gives Fuku and Ryo-Ohki a lunch of carrot sandwiches. Noike then comes by in a truck, and Sasami tells Seina that Noike is her aunt because she was adopted by Lady Seto, her grandmother. Speaking of Seto, Noike thanks Seina for dealing with her because she never bothers her anymore (something Seina notes is the same thing Utsutsumi told him on Jurai). Tenchi finishes loading the truck with carrots and invites Seina to see the shrine in the hope that it'll drive away his bad luck. Seina agrees and accepts a challenge to race him after boasting about being fast. However, just as Tenchi warns Seina about the path he's taking, he runs off of a hill and crashes into the pool of the Royal Tree Funaho and right next to Katsuhito, Tenchi's grandfather.
Seina swears he could hear someone call out his name, and Katsuhito realizes that Seina can hear Funaho as they can. Seina greets the tree, which he used to play near when he was a child, but suddenly his head is stomped on by Ryoko Hakubi, who teleported there to complain to Tenchi about Ayeka.
Ryoko greets Seina, whom she hasn't seen a while, but Seina wonders if Ryoko can also turn into a cabbit after Tenchi mentions that Ryoko is also Fuku's sister. Ryoko flees upon hearing Ayeka come near and complain about her not doing chores. Intercut with a scene of NB being shocked that Yoshiko called him a "dog", Ayeka's greeting with Seina is interrupted as Ryoko makes fun of her behind her back, triggering a humorous spat between them.
Katsuhito asks Seina if he remembers the legend of the warrior who sealed away the evil demon that he's told him before. He now reveals he's actually a youthful man wearing an elderly disguise and that he was that warrior. Not only that, but Ryoko was the demon, and when Tenchi broke Ryoko's seal two years ago, she went on a rampage and blew up Tenchi's school in Kurashiki, which was something Seina had heard about. Later, after Noike arrives, Katsuhito tells Seina that he can't give him a ceremony to remove his bad luck because the latter is far too powerful.
After finishing working for the day, Amane, Kiriko, and Ryoko rest back at the Yamada residence. Neju is there too and asks why there's no security on this planet for the members of Jurai's Royal Family. Amane explains that with Ayeka's ship Ryu-Oh, Noike's ship Kyoko, Sasami—who is merged with the original Royal Tree Tsunami—Ryo-Ohki, Washu—the galaxy's greatest scientist, and Mihoshi, they really don't need security. Ryoko suddenly realizes why Tarant Shank was injured the last time she saw him before she reformed; he was attempting to kidnap the Yamada family but was defeated by the Masaki residence.
Tenchi and Seina take a bath while dinner is being prepared, where Seina is amazed Tenchi has such an impressive bathhouse. Seina then questions how he's the only guy living with a bunch of women (as Katsuhito lives alone at the shrine while his father Nobuyuki lives with his new wife Rea in Kurashiki). Tenchi tells Seina he's no better since he has three beautiful women serving as his crew. Ryoko then shows up and asks Seina if he wants to scrub her back, but Tenchi tells her to leave and that she's acting like Washu.
Inside the house, Washu analyzes Seina's body and confirms that he's perfect for a decoy. Noike and Sasami then announce they've finished preparing the ingredients for the nabe they're having for dinner and leave it to Tenchi to cook, where Washu explains to Seina that they're supposed be quiet and just watch him. Eventually, he finishes and is about to serve dinner, but Mihoshi blunders her ship's landing on the lake and makes a huge mess.
Amane, Kiriko, Ryoko, and Neju are relaxing in the bath when they receive urgent orders from Galaxy Police Headquarters to return to duty. Meanwhile, Mihoshi (who is punished by having to wear a maid outfit) joins the others, and Tenchi again attempts to serve dinner. Seina is excited about being able to eat chicken, but Amane, Kiriko, Ryoko, and Neju swoop in inside their aircar and snatch up Seina before he can eat.
After boarding the Kamidake and preparing to jump into hyperspace, Seina and NB cry about missing their chicken and Yoshiko, respectively, but NB gets confused and accidentally says he misses his chicken instead of Yoshiko.
Trivia
- Quite appropriately, this episode is the one to finally reveal all four silhouetted figures in the opening sequence, with the last three being Ryoko, Ayeka, and Tenchi in that order.
- This is also only one of two episodes to have this version of the sequence. Apart from the very last one, the remaining episodes instead use the version that reveals only Neju.
- This episode is the debut of Noike Kamiki, a new character who would be formally introduced in "Fiancée", the second episode of the third season of Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki (which is a prequel to the events of GXP), released on December 21, 2003. Thus, Noike's appearance here predates her introduction in the OVA series by about one-and-a-half years.
- This is the only episode of the series that was written and storyboarded by Tenchi Muyo! co-creator Masaki Kajishima, likely due to it revolving around the series' main characters.
- In the English dub, Tenchi and the girls almost all have different voice actors than their usual ones:
- Tenchi is voiced by Christopher Corey Smith instead of Matt K. Miller.
- Ryoko is voiced by Mona Marshall instead of Petrea Burchard. Marshall also voices Ryoko in the third season of Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki.
- Ayeka is voiced by Rebecca Forstadt instead of Jennifer Darling; Forstadt additionally voices her regular character Mihoshi.
- Sasami is voiced by Kari Wahlgren (who is also the voice of Yoshiko, Airi, Mitoto, and Minaho, among others) instead of Sherry Lynn.
- Washu is voiced by Jessica Gee-George (who is also the voice of Kyo Komachi) instead of Kate T. Vogt.
- Noike is voiced by Mona Marshall in this episode but by Kari Wahlgren in the OVA.
