HIMC, also known as Himiko or HIMIK, is an alien mecha from the series Dual! Parallel Trouble Adventure, and later the Tenchi Muyo! GXP novelizations.

Biography

Slight discrepancies exist in the way HIMC was portrayed in the anime Dual! Parallel Trouble Adventure as it was presented and in supporting doujinshi and later in the Tenchi Muyo! GXP novels.

Dual! Parallel Trouble Adventure

In the anime, HIMC was part of a force controlled by the alien Zumu that was chasing and terrorizing D and her fellow settlers that had crashed on Earth in its primitive stages. D fled from the fight with the robot Zinv and hid away. When HIMC destroyed the group it went dormant, having succeeded.

Dual was meant to have been a longer series, and there was a deeper backstory. HIMC was one of two core robots, the other being Zinv, among other lesser models, brought to Earth thousands of years ago in the starship, fleeing from its war town world. They crash landed and lost the ability of spaceflight but most of the ship remained functional and the core robots survived. The group ended up fighting. One half of the group fought with HIMC (a group that wanted to embrace science) and the other group fought with Zinv (who believed science almost destroyed them and wanted to return to a more natural existence). D was almost killed in the fighting but survived in a bioroid body. Both sides ended up destroying themselves. In the GXP novelizations, they state that Zinv was actually the ship that had brought everyone to the Earth of the Dual time period, and it was rebuilt into the form of the giant robot to help inspire religious awe in the primitive humans native to that world.

D (in both scenarios), sealed HIMC and herself away with all of their technology and went into stasis. In one parallel world created, HIMC and the rest were discovered, in the other they were not and ceased to exist in that world.

Hiroshi Rara, one of the two scientists studying the artifacts (along with Ayuko, the future Mrs. Rara) stole HIMC, and the larger of two ships, intent on taking over the world. They created an army of manned robots from the technology found on the ship.

Rara came up with a rather peaceful form of conquest though. He would battle directly against his scientist counterpart, Hiroshi Sanada, leader of the newly formed Earth Defense Force over a set territory. The ones that lost their base would be forced to give up. However, both knew that once Rara was ready to release HIMC it would be too powerful to resist against.

Both HIMC and Zinv could only be piloted by a singularity in their world, a person who existed in one of the worlds but not the other. Rara happened to have one of these, his daughter, Mitsuki Rara, who only existed in their world.

Zinv had been discovered by the Earth Defense Force but they could not activate it until its counterpart, a singularity from its parallel world, Kazuki Yotsuga, unconsciously activated it during a desperate fight with an unfinished version of HIMC. Zinv could beat back this version and regained lost ground in their fight.

However, Rara's army was able to complete HIMC over a period of time when they had sent Zinv and Kazuki to the other parallel world. They didn't need HIMC to defeat the Earth Defense Force (who had to retreat as outlaws in the smaller ship) but when Zinv and Kazuki returned, HIMC, now piloted by the singularity Mitsuki Sanada, had the upper hand, lancing Zinv on a stake, almost destroying it. The fight between the two of them also seemed to be accelerating the collapse of the two worlds that had slowly be showing signs of happening since Zinv had been revived.

In this fight, HIMC was partially controlled by a floating seed that was at the core of Rara's larger ship. D revealed this to be Zumu. Zumu could also telepathically contact D and taunted her and made her fear for her life again. D ultimately decided that she feared for Kazuki's life more that her own, drove the smaller ship into a kamikaze run against the large ship, disrupting Zumu's hold on HIMC. It was then revealed that D's actual body had been sealed inside Zinv the whole time and revived by this action. She reveals to Kazuki that her society had been afraid of the great power Zinv held, and put a limiter on it. She is then able to remove the limiter. Zinv, using its Light Hawk Wings and gravitational weapons, is able to destroy HIMC and Zumu.

To save the worlds, Kazuki also has to destroy Zinv, his counterpart, creating a new combined world. It is, however, discovered that a version of Zinv has survived after all.

Tenchi Muyo! GXP novels

In the GXP novels it is explained that the events of Dual actually occurred as far back as a billion years ago and they were progenitors of what is now known as The Great Prehistoric Civilization.

Soon after Seina Yamada rediscovers Zinv and a sleeping D AI, Seina travels to the Renza Federation area of space to fight against a group of Space Pirates there. Stunning D, HIMC is found supporting the space pirates. D believes that it should have been destroyed, as she saw it happen. But it is pointed out that logically, if the universe created by Kazuki had a version of Zinv in it, it should also have its own version of HIMC.

In the novels it is discovered that Zinv houses a 1st generation Juraian Royal Tree Seed. HIMC has a 2nd generation seed but Zinv reveals to Seina that it has somehow been altered or "broken." It doesn't seem to have a will.

Zinv and HIMC get into a battle. HIMC uses a weapon that can penetrate Light Hawk Wings, damages it badly, and forces it to randomly jump away to save itself.

However, Zinv was also able to attack HIMC with a gravitational blast and destroys half of its frame. As of the novels progress in 2020, HIMC is still in this state, being repaired, but flash-forward segments of the novels have shown it facing off against Seina and Zinv again.

Trivia

  • Just as Zinv has another name, Jinbu, which seems to be the name of its seed, it is theorized that HIMC's seed (and other name) should be Zumu.
  • HIMC has been stated to have had its (that is, the seed within it) consciousness destroyed through unknown methods, allowing it to attack Zinv.
