Plot
"A few years later."
Kenshi and Ryo-Ohki (now developed into a fully mature form) are playing their nightly game of hide and seek/tag. In the trees above, Ryo-Ohki teleports right behind Kenshi to grab him. Kenshi senses her at the last moment and jumps away. She playfully chases after him as he continues to dodge her. Washu, monitoring them from her lab, cackles gleefully to see his progress. She later informs Seto that they are now ready for the next phase of training, involving Juraian warriors showing him their skills.
In a dark room, shadowy figures laugh about how it is now their turn to move... lights come on to reveal Kuis Panta, Misaki Masaki Jurai, Minaho Masaki, and Yuzaki Hirata. Ringo Tatsuki and Otoka Masaki have arived to ruin the mood. Their embarrassment at being caught is short lived though, as they turn the tables and insist that Ringo be the first to go to Earth to train Kenshi her skills. After first scaring Kiriko's group into thinking Ringo is coming for an audit of their finances, Ringo teaches Kenshi why everyone is afraid of her when she scolds him harshly and repeatedly for his unnecessary spending. Turning him into an ashen, soulless husk.
Over the next few days, a series of fighters take on Kenshi in initial sessions with him. Interspersed with these fights are small talks discussing the galactic and interpersonal affairs of Tenchi, Seina, Yosho and the others.
Minaho demonstrates her frightening open-hand aikido skills, not only throwing Kenshi, but also Sasami, Ryo-Ohki, and Fuku, who join in on the attack for the challenge of it.
After giving Kenshi a head start to hide in the forest, Yuzaki proceeds to immediately track him down and attack him in a series of explosive guerilla attacks.
Misaki has Kenshi attack her with his wooden sword while she is blind-folded, holding her hands behind her back, and balancing on a golf ball with one foot. Despite her disadvantages, she easily dodges his quick attacks and he is ultimately knocked into the water when she parries one of his thrusts and bumps him off the deck with her butt.
Funaho Masaki Jurai faces Kenshi with a chain attack, but instead of using a chain, she drives him back with a series of combo strikes and hurls him into the air multiple times without ever letting him touch the ground, only using a length of thread. Upon seeing this, Fuku begs Funaho to also her throw her into the air using the same technique.
Seto (or possibly Kuis, acting as Seto) battles Kenshi in a sort of strategic computer game in which they each have to build a virtual fighter as fast as possible and fight against each other, Seto uses her skills and superior technology to quickly build a fearsome armored giant with massive firepower before Kenshi can even give his proper clothes or even a good sword. It seems unfair, but his fighter is blown away immediately.
Finally, Amame Yotsuga (Emperor Azusa's mother, a former Masaki princess) attacks Kenshi head-on with her sword and brawn. All Kenshi can do is dodge, until Mitoto Kuramitsu, suddenly and completely unexpectedly, pops up in their path, sending them both tumbling with simple sweeps of her broom.
Soon the group at the house grows even more as they are joined by the rest of the Masaki royal family, other close royals, the rest of the Kuramitsu family and the rest of Seina's household that we have been introduced to so far in this series. We even get cameos from Seina's parents and sister (who has seemingly married Kai Masaki by this time).
All of the conversations up to this point conclude in the reveal that they have all gathered not only to train Kenshi, but to hear Tenchi announce his intent to marry Ryoko, Ayeka, Sasami, Ryo-Ohki, Washu, Mihoshi, and Noike.
As he makes his speech about how they all met and how each have become so irreplaceable to him, we see a flashback to to his meeting with the girls on the beach on Tabletop Island. There he talks about how selfish he feels, but Ryoko comes forward to speak for the group to tell him that he shouldn't be stuck at all, because they have all independently decided that their family is wherever Tenchi is.
The announcement is culminated with Azusa announcing to all that the marriage has been given the blessing of all in attendance.
This is not an actual wedding ceremony, merely an announcement and blessing. As Emperor Azusa notes, some may object once it becomes public (House Amaki, other Kuramitsu family members), but all in attendance support the marriage. As discussed in one conversation with Airi, Katsuhito may have to reveal himself to Jurai as Yosho in order to smooth things over.
It is also revealed that Yosho and Airi have never been formally married (it could be said they have a common-law marriage), as he would have to reveal his existence in order to do so. It seems that Tenchi's situation may be similar to his grandfather's, as he may not be able to have a proper wedding either until Yosho is revealed and other political obstacles are overcome. Yet, to all gathered there, they are as good as married and have their blessing to act as if they have been.
Trivia
- The cover of this OVA has the logo covering up the two carrots that Ryo-Ohki is wearing on her clothes, presumably since there wasn't anywhere else to place it. This is significant because the two covered-up carrots are supposed to represent digit "2" for twenty-nine, reflecting that this is the twenty-ninth episode of the OVA series. The image without the logo can be found in the gallery below.
- At 30 characters in the Japanese title and sixteen words in the English translation, this episode has, by far, the longest title of any episode in the entire Tenchi Muyo! franchise.
