Misao Amano in Magical Project S (Pretty Sammy TV) is the second version of the character.

Like her predecessor, Ramia and her brother Rumiya force her to become Pixy Misa, an evil magical girl, to fight Sasami. She later redeems herself as a heroine. Unlike her OVA counterpart, this Pixy Misa is comedic, and Misao's primary struggle is loneliness, not illness. As a key deuteragonist, her development is a major focus of the series, mirroring Sasami's journey.

Civilian Life

Misao is a typical Japanese middle school student residing in Tokyo[1]. However, her life is not without hardship. Misao is frequently depicted as melancholic or depressed, her loneliness being a significant emotional burden. Her daily life starkly contrasts with that of her best friend Sasami. Sasami's life is portrayed as vibrant and full, while Misao's is depicted as empty and sad.

Besides Sasami, who is her best and only friend, Misao believes a mysterious green parrot is one of the only people that visits and cheers her up. Unbeknownst to Misao, this parrot is Rumiya in disguise. Rumiya is usually forced by his sister Ramia to transform Misao into Pixy Misa against her will through magical hypnosis.

Despite the good intentions of her best friend and being classmates, Sasami cannot always be with Misao. Due to extended periods of solitude and lack of supervision, sometimes for days, Misao spends significant time as Pixy Misa without her absence being noticed.

Despite providing for her material needs, Misao experiences severe parental neglect as both parents are largely absent from her life. Her father has been out of contact for years, having left Japan to pursue his music career. Her mother is consistently occupied with work and, despite living in the same house, rarely sees Misao, often not even returning home to sleep[2]. Furthermore, Misao’s mother is depicted as very strict concerning her daughter's education.

After school, any potential respite is short-lived, as her mother also mandates her attendance at cram school. This results in extended periods she must endure alone and without the companionship of Sasami.

Talents and abilities

While not possessing genius-level intellect like Washu, Misao is intelligent for her age and educational stage. She is studious, hardworking, and consistently achieves good grades, ranking among the top students in her class.

Specifically, Misao demonstrates exceptional musical aptitude. She is a skilled pianist and a talented singer, even exhibiting ability in song composition. However, despite her passion for music and ambition to become a pianist, her shyness presents a significant obstacle. Becoming a pianist is not merely a hobby, but her dream.

Despite being otherwise healthy, Misao possesses notable physical weakness and lacks stamina. This is emphasized to the extent that other characters have directly described her as "weak." Consequently, she performs poorly in physical activities such as sports and physical education. Furthermore, she exhibits a susceptibility to self-injury.

As Pixy Misa

Pixy Misa is the magical girl form, and alter ego, of Misao Amano. Ramia selected Misao and granted her magical powers due to the fact that both are “kindred spirits,” thus making her the equivalent to Tsunami’s Pretty Sammy.

Throughout the series, Pixy Misa functions as a magical trickster. She is portrayed as wacky, comedic, and highly humorous, often breaking the fourth wall. Pixy Misa frequently employs her magic for jokes, self-indulgence, or amusement.

Initially, and for much of the series, Pixy Misa served as a primary antagonist and rival to Pretty Sammy, identifying herself as an "evil magical girl." In this capacity, Rumiya’s hypnosis activated Pixy Misa in an unwitting Misao, acting on behalf of his sister Ramia.

Her main objective was to tip the Gemini balance toward evil by opposing Pretty Sammy and generating chaos. To achieve this, she primarily utilized love monsters and other minions. However, Pixy Misa’s “evil” actions were more akin to pranks than true malice. Ramia’s goal was to sabotage Tsunami, and neither Ramia nor Pixy Misa intended to kill innocents or directly harm individuals as their true goal.

Nevertheless, Pixy Misa retains the potential for danger. As Pretty Sammy’s counterpart, she possesses considerable magical abilities, necessitating Sammy’s intervention to avert catastrophes.

Subsequently, Pretty Sammy's influence on Misao led to Pixy Misa's redemption. Pixy Misa, by extension, became a force for good, partnering with Pretty Sammy to form a heroic duo.

Physical appearance

Unlike Sasami, whose transformation is limited to a wardrobe change, Misao’s transformation into Pixy Misa also alters her physique, effectively concealing her identity.

While Misao is typically similar in size to Sasami, her transformed Pixy Misa form is noticeably taller, exceeding Sasami's height by approximately one head. Her eye color changes to orange, and her hair becomes blond. Her fringe lengthens and becomes shaped with two pointed ends, while the hair at the back gains volume. Her nose also becomes slightly larger and pointier.

Pixy Misa's magical girl attire is heavily inspired by the burlesque/flapper styles of the 20's. It primarily consists of a black outfit featuring a prominent midriff, a short skirt, long black gloves, and heeled boots. She incorporates accessories characteristic of the style, such as a fan, a necklace, and a diadem adorned with a prominent feather. Consistent with the flapper style, she wears makeup, specifically pink lipstick and elongated eyelashes.

She is commonly depicted with a green parrot, Rumiya in disguise, on her shoulder. This parrot serves as her familiar and magical girl mascot, analogous to Pretty Sammy’s Ryō-Ōki.

Collectively, these alterations give Misao a more confident and subtly menacing appearance as Pixy Misa.

Personality

Misao Amano

Misao is an introverted yet kind, sweet, and good-natured girl. In contrast to her best friend Sasami, Misao tends to be melancholic and timid to the point she is often seen having depressive moods, and overall has a soft-spoken passive demeanor.

Misao is often target of bullying. Sasami's usually protects her.
Misao is often target of bullying. Sasami's usually protects her.

She struggles with both very low self-esteem and self-doubt to the extent she developed an inferiority complex. Misao often second-guesses herself, and she also feels insecure, or embarrassed, even at her talents and accomplishments. Paradoxically she also wants to be recognised for her hard work. Her meekness also makes her vulnerable from bullying, often being a target of Konoha, as she hardly ever speaks up, even to defend herself.

Misao is very lonely[3]. She yearns for both the love of her parents and the warmth of friendship. Due to her Introversion and shyness, Misao has an extreme difficulty talking to other kids, let alone making friends, with Sasami being the only other kid she socializes with as her best, and only friend. As such Misao developed a fear of abandonment from her loved ones, including Sasami, whom she feared had stopped liking her, at least twice.[4][5]

She is far more open, and cheerful whenever she is with Sasami. While Misao takes a passive, role with her, the two are fairly close often doing bonding activities together. They both share moments of joy and support each other when the other is feeling sad. Sasami always does her best to take care of her and make Misao smile. While Misao is always eager to listen to Sasami and comfort her[4].

Misao hugs Sasami, to comfort her, after Tenchi’s departure breaks Sasami’s heart.

Misao hugs Sasami, to comfort her, after Tenchi’s departure breaks Sasami’s heart.

There's a darker part of Misao’s personality. While she does admire and care deeply for  Sasami, Misao is also secretly jealous of her. She envies not only her brighter day-to-day life but also how cheerful, outgoing and confident she is. As part of her flaws, Misao tends to get scared easily to the point Sasami often tries to protect her or speak up for her. As a drawback, Sasami’s overprotectiveness with Misao also lowered her self-esteem. She even feared Sasami was only her friend out of pity. She also tends to hide her negative emotions like anger, loneliness, or jealousy.[6]

Misao has shown both bravery and selflessness.  Sasami mentioned how she admired Misao’s courage. Misao was willing to smile for her despite being in great pain due to a fever. Misao didn’t hesitate to go help Sasami stop Romio despite being aware of the danger. When she faced the possibility of dying in space after helping save the world, she said that she had no regrets; she was simply happy of being able to help everyone.[7]

Yet another way she is opposite to Sasami is, that while her best friend was initially averse to being a magical girl, Misao daydreamed about being able to use magic[8]. And while she regretted her evil deeds as Pixy Misa, Misao did like being Pixy Misa as evidenced by the fact that during a time Misao was powerless , she made a Pixy Misa costume to “cheer herself up”[6] . She also actively sought the ability to use magic and came to both accept and enjoy her role as a magical girl.

Late in the series, thanks to Sasami's influence, Misao began to address her flaws. She grew to accept and love both sides of herself. As a result, she became more cheerful and confident. In fact, after Sasami's guidance, while maintaining her shy, soft-spoken nature, Misao started to exhibit sparks of her Pixy Misa more playful side in her civilian life. She became more openly exasperated and blunt with Sasami, experimented with posing as a magical girl[9], and even pranked Sasami by cosplaying as her Misa self[6].

Pixy Misa

Whenever Misao transforms into Pixy Misa, she gets a drastic personality change.

In stark contrast to her usual gentle and soft-spoken personality, Pixy Misa is brash and confident to the point of arrogance. Pixy Misa is a highly comedic, and quirky person who hardly ever takes situations seriously. She is excitable, boastful, and theatrical. She also has an exaggerated sense of the dramatic and is given to flashy entrances. Albeit she is also capable of being dangerous or serious if the situation is dire enough.

She highly enjoys being a magical girl and having magical powers, to such an extent she even made a song about it[10]. Misa often uses her magic for silly and frivolous reasons like jokes, magic shows, or cosplay. Pixy Misa is also prone to laugh maniacally, with a loud high-pitched tone. As a speech affectation, she likes to sprinkle her dialogue with English words in the original Japanese version.

Pixy Misa gives life to all of Misao’s hidden feelings[11], and bottled emotions along with all the repressed aspects of her personality. Rather than being a different person, Pixy Misa is more accurately Misao without her inhibitions and insecurities. She expresses emotions Misao ordinarily represses. In fact, Pixy Misa serves as an outlet for Misao to vent her frustrations[12].

Pixy Misa often likes to indulge herself with laziness and gluttony. She is also far more willing to tease or be blunt with others. For instance, she has called Sammy stupid, and flat-chested[10]. She is also far more aggressive, and hot-blooded even willing to kick or punch others out of frustration. She can be cowardly as she also tends to flee from Sammy whenever she defeats her love-love monsters. Pixy Misa also embodies the person Misao wishes she was in her day-to-day life.  She is cheerful and confident like Sasami. She also loses some of her usual fears like her fear of singing in public or being the center of attention.

While, initially, her role was that of a villain, she was far more interested in goofing around and having fun. While she could be cruel and mean spirited, overall, she used her time as a villain, for games, pranks, and as a mean to prove her superiority towards Sammy.

Pixy Misa and Sasami’s usuals dynamic.

Pixy Misa and Sasami’s usuals dynamic.

Despite Pixy Misa being the exact opposite of Misao’s usual demeanor, the two personalities are linked as they are two sides of the same person. Pixy Misa’s actions are a direct result of Misao’s feelings. Pixy Misa often chose targets of her mischief on things that caused her pain as Misao like her cram school or P.E class. The same day Sasami forgot to hang out with Misao, Pretty Sammy noticed, Pixy Misa was being more cruel to her than usual. [13]

Ryo-Ohki explained that some of her wickedness was caused by evil magic polluting her heart, and making her do things she ordinarily wouldn’t do, like causing trouble out of the whims of Ramia[6]. However, Misao herself explained that part of Pixy Misa’s negative behavior was also caused by Misao hiding her negative feelings[14] like her jealousy towards Sasami. Pixy Misa also became a better, more selfless, and even heroic person because Misao also improved herself. Ultimately Misao gains full control of her alter-ego with the only difference between the two being merely the personality change.

One and the same.

Despite how extreme contrast between her two personalities can be Misao Amano and Pixy Misa are not two different people. They are in fact one and the same; two sides of the same soul. The show establishes this explicitly, and directly, that they are the same person, in two episodes ""Friends" and "The Moon Must be Hell" with both Pixy Misa and Misao considering each other as being the same person."

During the events of Friends-

Pretty Sammy visits Misao’s heart also meeting Pixy Misa herself there. Naturally Sammy, like some viewers might, assumes Pixy Misa is another person entirely different from Misao that is “possessing her”. Sammy bluntly asks Misa to leave Misao alone

Pixy Misa corrects her and says such Idea is completely wrong. Pixy Misa can’t just leave Misao alone, because she is Misao[6].

Pixy Misa: “You don't understand a thing. Misa is Misao, and Misao is Misa. The sad feelings in her heart, along with the magical powers are what brought me into the world. Me, Pixy Misa. In other words, we're one and the same person.”[6]

This view isn’t one sided from Pixy Misa’s side as Misao refered to Pixy Misa as “the other side of me.”

During the events of The Moon Must Be Hell

This idea, that they are the same person, is now reinforced from Misao’s perspective.

Misao asks Rumiya for the magic baton to transform into Pixy Misa, but he is reluctant fearing Pixy Misa is just going to cause trouble again. Misao denies it. She says she will stop hiding her emotions, thereby keeping Pixy Misa in check, as Misa embodies Misao’s repressed feelings, as she is a part of Misao. And Misao says she loves both sides of herself despite the contradictions[15]. During her plea Misao refers to him as “Rumiya” (Rū-kun), instead of “Birdie” (Tori-San) as she usually does, just as Pixy Misa would. Misao does this to reinforce that she views Pixy Misa as part of her.

Rumiya offers to tell Misao the transformation incantation to transform, but Misao declines saying she already knows the words, without ever being told, because, in her words “she is (Pixy) Misa”

Misao: “I know. Because I am Misa.”[15]

Misao then transforms into Pixy Misa willingly, and for the first time proving that she knows the magic words, because she knows them from her Misa side.[15]

Awareness between personalities.

Misao’s awareness of her alter ego Pixy Misa, and her actions while transformed, changed during the course of the series.

Ramia deliberately blocked Misao’s memories as Pixy Misa, as her attempts to sabotage Tsunami, and by extension Pretty Sammy, were done in secret. As a result, Misao is unaware of her situation throughout most, but not all, of the story. Her Pixy Misa side, on the other hand, was always fully aware of her situation. Pixy Misa was also always aware that Pretty Sammy was Sasami Kawaii. Misao, however wasn’t.

The events of The Magic Fades Away were the turning point were Misao became aware of her Alter-ego.

Before "The Magic Fades Away".

Misao does not remember Pixy Misa nor the deeds she did as her to the point she was not even aware of Pixy Misa’s existence. During the events of Midsummer Santa, when Sasami asked Misao if Pixy Misa had hurt her, Misao replied that she had no idea who Pixy Misa even was.

The irony of Misao staring at her own , and holding her magic weapon, and still being unaware she is Misa,

The irony of Misao staring at her own familiar, and holding her magic weapon, and still being unaware she is Misa,

From Misao’s perspective she just experiences amnesia coupled with blackouts, or headaches, often waking up in places she doesn’t recall ever going to.

As Pixy Misa on the other hand, she is fully aware of her Alter-ego, Misao, and the fact that they are the same person. Pixy Misa also has access to all her memories as Misao, a fact she exploits against Pretty Sammy.; twice to lure use her alter ego Misao, as a faked hostage to lure Sammy into a trap during the events of Midsummer Santa and The Fellow Called Boss. At one time Pixy Misa even slipped and referred to Sammy as “her friend”[3].

Pixy Misa also refused to betray or even give away Ramia's involvement as her "partner", despite being well aware of her, even after being asked directly by Sammy. Misao on the other hand, only knew of Ramia as a vague memory she just couldn’t quite recall [8]

At the climax of the episode, Pixy Misa is defeated, and forcefully de-transformed back to her civilian form. Misao not only learns that she was Pixy Misa, but she also remembers all her actions as her alter ego. This wrecked her with tremendous guilt.[16][6]

As of the events of "The Moon Must be Hell". Misao can now transform into Pixy Misa at will, with full control over herself and her powers, as well as complete access to her memories—though a personality shift still occurs. The amnesia limitation no longer applies, presumably due to the eradication of Ramia’s evil magic from her heart.

Misao has made references to her time as Pixy Misa after learning the truth. During a brief period she was de-powered. Misao created a wig and a costume to cosplay as her alter go, and imitated her mannerisms, and pattern of speech’s which she couldn’t have seen first hand. She was also made aware of things only Pixy Misa could know, like her transformation incantation[15], or the fact that it was Rumiya who triggered her transformations.

In the finale, Misao is able to continue where she left of as Misa without the need of being put up to speed with the transition between both identities now being seamless.

For example, after Pixy Misa is sent adrift on space along with Sammy. Pixy Misa de-transforms back to Misao, but Misao remains fully aware of all the events up until that point. Misao even explains to Sasami how they got stranded in space while they were transformed.[7]

During the events of Pretty Sammy 4999—the only official adventure following the finale of the TV series—Pretty Sammy is peer-pressured by the Battle Athlete girls into attacking her now-friend, Pixy Misa, with her Pretty Coquettish Bomber spell. While recovering, Misao fears that Sasami no longer likes her. This scene confirms that Misao retains her full memories as Pixy Misa and continues to view Pixy Misa not as a separate entity, but as herself[17].

Powers and abilities

Pixy Misa is a textbook glass cannon : immensely powerful magically, yet physically frail and vulnerable to damage.

In contrast to Pretty Sammy, who struggled to learn magic, Pixy Misa excelled at it. Sammy primarily relied on her "Pretty Coquettish Bomber" spell, whereas Pixy Misa utilized a wider variety of spells.

In their initial battle, despite both being novice magical girls, Pixy Misa had to grant Sammy a head start for her to catch up to her. Pretty Sammy, however, consistently held both physical and offensive advantages due to superior strength and athleticism. Sammy’s "Pretty Coquettish Bomber" frequently sufficed to defeat Pixy Misa’s love monsters and force her to retreat.

Initially, Pixy Misa and her alter ego Misao shared the same physical frailty. While her tranfromation granted her vast magic power, it did not enhance her physical capabilities—a key distinction from her OVA counterpart, who gains physical strength and athleticism upon transforming.

Pixy Misa's meeknes and proneness to self-injury forced her to rely on her love love monsters. In once ocassion, she hurt herself attempting to attack Sammy with her metal fan, an injury Misao later mistakenly attributed to an accident[3].

After Team Sexy Madams Upgrade

However, after receiving an upgrade from Team Sexy Madams and learning to utilize their “sexy power,” Pixy Misa began to demonstrate more significant offensive capabilities. This marked a turning point, transitioning her into a more active fighter, rather than solely relying on Love Love Monsters and minions. She started displaying offensive abilities like her new “Pixy Sexy Fire.[16]

Pixy Misa demonstrably increased her strength, destroying several of Romio’s robotic minions by throwing her fan as a boomerang, piercing their metal hides—a feat impossible with her earlier physical limitations. During her first willing transformation and subsequent battle with Romio, Pixy Misa leaped several meters into the air, compelling bystanders to look up.

In the final episode, she also kicked both Romio and Sasami, forcing them to the ground, threatened to punch Rumiya, and easily pushed him around. This considerably more physically threatening presence suggests her initial physical weakness was overcome after her upgrade.

Weapon

  • Pixy Misa’s baton - Pixy Misa’s weapon of choice, and her equivalent to Pretty Sammy’s baton. It a large magic metal fan, but it is often, mistakenly referred as a “baton” in the show. This weapon can be used to trigger Misao’s transformation sequence into Pixy Misa. Pixy Misa uses it to channel her magic for her spells. It can also be used as a melee weapon that can parry attacks, like a sword, or even be used as a shuriken or boomerang.

Transformation

  • Pixy Mutation Magical Recall (ピクシィ・ミューテーション・マジカル・リコール, Pikushyi Myūtēshon Majikaru Rikōru?) - Transforms Misao into Pixy Misa. This is used later in the TV series when Misao is aware of being Pixy Misa, and wishes to transform with her baton, as with Sammy. Before then, Pixy Misa's transformation was brought about directly by Rumiya's hypnosis. Less often, Rumiya also ordered Misao to transform on her own, offscreen, after being hypnotized . Misao is only shown willingly transforming onscreen only once, with several other voluntary ones implied offscreen.

Summoning

  • Pixy misa using her “calling mystics” spell.

Pixy misa using her “calling mystics” spell.

Calling Mystics (コーリング・ミステイクス, Kōringu Misuteikusu?) - Pixy Misa uses this to summon a Love-Love Monster from a discarded item. As Misa usually has her monsters fight for her, this is her most widely-used incantation to create her Love-Love Monsters.
  • Sexy Calling Mystics (セクシー・コーリング・ミステイクス, Sekushī Kōringu Misuteikusu?) - A more powerful version of the summoning spell Pixy is able to use after Team Sexy Mrs. was defeated and she was granted a new power. (NOTE: Pioneer's release subtitled it as "Calling Lovely Mystics". Except for in the OVA and earlier episodes of the TV series, instances of the English word "sexy" in the dialogue was subtitled as "lovely").

Offensive powers

  • Pixy Sexy Fire (ピクシィ・セクシャル・ファイヤー, Pikushyi Sekusharu Faiyā?) - Pixy Misa's ultimate attack, which is a stream of powerful damaging energy. She was only able use it after Team Sexy Mrs. was defeated and she was granted a new power.
  • Super strength (temporal)- Superhuman strength wasn’t one of Pixy Misa’s usual powers, except during her last battle against Sammy. After Ramia upgraded her magic power 3 times, she managed to push Sammy several meters away with one hit.

Other abilities

  • Flight/Levitation (temporal). Although Pixy Misa doesn't regularly have the ability to fly, and in fact she was often seeing falling from great heights without being able to stop her falls[18] [19]. However, during her final battle with Pretty Sammy, and presumably thanks to Ramia, temporarily, boosting her magical abilities, she was shown hovering in the air, even fighting Pretty Sammy in the sky[16], and managing to fall slowly after her defeat from above the skies of Tokio. However, she never displayed said ability after this episode, thus her main main means of transportation was her teleportation magic,
  • Teleportation: While Sammy had a lot trouble learning this ability, and even Tsunami had difficulty using it[20], Pixy Misa was able to easily and quickly master it. Her mastery went to such extent she managed to use this power while untransformed as Misao, albeit still using her magic fan[16]. Pixy Misa was able to teleport to America from Japan without issue, and she later used this ability along with Sammy to move around Juraihelm. This power isn't without limits, however, as unlike Ramia, and as Rumiya pointed out, she was unable to teleport outside the planet a situation that forced her to hijack a NASA spaceship.
  • Time Travel: After Pretty Sammy accidentally warped to the year 4999 due to a spell gone awry, Pixy Misa easily cast a time portal to locate and rescue her. This once again demonstrated Misa's faster mastery of magic compared to Sammy.[17]
  • Pixy Misa uses her vast magical powers to cosplay as Captain Harlock while piloting A nasa space shuttle with a rudder.

Pixy Misa uses her vast magical powers to cosplay as Captain Harlock while piloting A nasa space shuttle with a rudder.

Cloth creation: Pixy Misa can spontaneously create clothes for others and herself to wear. She once cosplayed as a pirate in the finale, and made random bystanders to wear t-shirts she summoned.
  • Magic Casting: As an agent of chaos for Ramia, Pixy Misa has access to vast reserves of magic, allowing her to cast powerful spells beyond her usual arsenal. For example, she can spontaneously create food or clothes using magic. She can also conjure props like microphones or reflectors, often for one-off gags. However, some of the objects she creates can be highly dangerous and carry potent curses. For instance, she once created a whistle capable of controlling Sammy's body.[8] or even transform humans into monsters based on the disguises they were wearing[4]. Additionally, she has demonstrated small-scale reality-warping abilities, such as controlling a NASA spaceship with a rudder.[18].

Weaknessess and limitations

  • Weak constitution: For most of the series, and before her upgrade, Pixy Misa shared the same physical fragility of her alter ego Misao, therefore being physically weak even compared to other regular girls her own age, let alone against more powerful foes.
  • Magic linked to age : As Dr Washu discovered, in this universe, the strength of magic is directly related to age. When she became a baby, Pixy Misa’s magical power had a massive drop, even her love love monster weakened. As an upside she is also bound to get more powerful as she grows up.
  • Magic Baton dependency: Unlike natives of jurailheim like Ramia or Tsunami, and later some humans after Tsunami’s ascension to the throne, neither Sasami nor Misao are able to use Magic without the use of their magic batons. Having said items either broken or unavailable leaves them completely powerless.

Trivia

  • Ramia chose Misao as her kindred spirit. As such, Ramia shares traits of both Misao and Pixy Misa. Similarly to Misao, and Sasami, Ramia is jealous of Tsunami. They are also both intellectually inclined and prone to extreme depressive moods when they are sad, and they also have a desire to be recognized . And Like Pixy Misa, Ramia is hotbloded, lazy, and arrogant with a tendency for aggressive and bombastic reactions. Rumiya even pointed out how Pixy Misa’s behavior was very similar to that of his sister.[21]
  • She is from Tokyo, Japan[1], as confirmed by a newspaper Washu was reading, firmly establishing the show's events in that city.
  • Despite the fact that Sasami is the main character, it is Misao who gets two boys crushing after her: The sports inclined Hiroto , and the magical boy Rumiya.
  • It seems she might reciprocate those romantic feelings with Rumiya. Misao asked him to visit her, in bird form, after Rumiya had confessed his feeling for her[7]. And, in the video game interquel, “Heart no Kimochi“ [22] Misao made Valentine’s Day chocolates for him, and was uncharacteristically upset when Hiroto said the tradition was silly.
  • Misao says the most important things in her life are her parents, Sasami, the mysterious bird that visits her, her hair bands, and the place she first met Sasami, with her becoming Misao’s first friend soon after.[6]
  • There was an unsuccessful attempt to do a sequel of Magical Project S with Sasami 14. Had this project been made, it would have established Misao and Sasami had been an heroic magical girl duo for four years, and this new anime would’ve covered their adventures after the time skip.
  • Given the two video games are Interquels, and the manga version is in a similar yet different continuity, This version of Misao, was, canonically last seen fighting Romio, in Mars, along Sammy during the post credits scene of the final episode.
  • However, chronologically, this version of Misao/Pixy Misa was last officially seen in "Pretty Sammy 4999," a one-shot "Azumanga Recycle" story. This crossover with Battle Athletes (another AIC production) was set after the finale's events[17].
  • This version of Misao, and her alter ego Pixy Misa, were featured alongside Pretty Sammy in two Sega Saturn era video games that were intended to be in continuity with Magical Project S. Both games are interquels.
    • Mahou Shoujo Pretty Samy: Heart no Kimochi (魔法少女プリティサミー ~ハートのきもち~ )[23] is set during the final episode of Magical Project S, "Magical Victory", Around Valentine's Day. After Romio's first defeat. During the brief time both Sasami and Misao were temporarily powerless, and just before Tsunami, Rumiya, and Ryo-Ohki returned to Earth for new magical girl adventures.
    • Mahou Shoujo Pretty Samy: Osorubeshi Shintaisokutei! Kakubakuhatsu 5 Byou Mae!! ( 魔法少女プリティサミー 恐るべし身体測定!核爆発5秒前) [22]is set before the episode "The Magic Fades Away", during the time when Ramia was still trying to sabotage Tsunami, and hypnotizing Misao.
