Monta is a sporty 10 year old boy that is both Sasami and Misao's classmate at their middle school.
Overview
Monta is a stereotypical preteen boy. He's a "cool kid" who's passionate about sports. Outside of school, he has a side job delivery boy, a job that he usually does with his bycicle[1].
Monta has a crush on Sasami, but she's unaware of his feelings. Misao, on the other hand, has strong feelings for Monta but he is also oblivious to her feelings[2].
While Misao was too shy to confess directly, her crush led to reckless choices. For example, she revealed her and her friends' secret as magical girls[3], almost caused them to lose a magical tournament due to arriving late with Sasami, and even temporarily joined the witches' side after Monta showed a clear preference for Sasami[2].
Monta, who became aware of magic thanks to Misao, became more involved in their magical affairs. For instance, when Itoki attacked their school, he did his best to help Sasami and her friends to survive. And he also seemingly did kept their secret despite being shaken by the reveal of magic being real.
While his lack of interest in Misao Shinohara , was the catalyst that drove Misao to join the witches side, Monta did compliment Misao's short hair by calling her "cute" in the last episode[4], opening the possibility that he might had developed feelings for Misao.

- According to Misao, his birthday is November 18th
- He bears some resemblance with Hiroto Majima from the Magical Project S/novel universe, in that he is the spiky haired “cool”, sporty kid that is in Misao’s and Sasami’s class. However his role is reversed in Sasami’s Magical girl club, as Hiroto has, undoubtedly, a crush with Misao Amano and is just friendly with Sasami Kawaii, whereas Monta had a crush with Sasami Iwakura, but doesn't seem to be interested in Misao Shinohara romantically.
