Palty Jurai is one of the main heroines of Paradise War, and appears in Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki.
Appearance
Palty has long purple hair which curls out from the sides. She wears a tiara like hairband that holds down her bangs, which are tied-back with multiple bows. She is the oldest of the main guild representatives and, on the island, sports a practical look with a conservative light two piece dress and often wore dark leggings.
Background
Palty was named the representative from the Daruma Guild to fight in a galactic proxy war to determine the leader of a new pirate nation. On the island she meets Minamida, the island's caretaker, Miron Pham, the island's doctor and school teacher, and her main opponents are Alea Balta, Dird Shank, Apuesta Daluma and later, Shou Kukoma.The space pirate guilds did not want to name one of their most prominent pirate members for the fight and risk losing them in battle, and all ended up nominating one of their more young, expendable, but gifted, members as their proxy war representatives. She was 3399th in line to succession of the guild.
She practices ancient martial arts and pirate battle skills and is a very powerful warrior, around the same level of fighter as Dird. Her Guardian uses hand weapons, like a two-arm broadsword.
She is a member of a Juraian group that split with the empire thousands of years to return to piracy (Jurai was actually descended from pirates). Her mother is an ambitious woman who could no longer prove her place in the royal family and in an effort to wrest a royal position she illegally procured verifiable Juraian sperm and produced Palty by artificial insemination, using her eggs but through a surrogate mother. Her mother lived on the island but in a separate house. Palty kept her family details a secret until the trauma she suffered as a child triggered a violent reaction in her which forced her to confront her past. She sought a psychological scan that revealed repressed memories that led to her mother's arrest. The details were quite horrific, involving being quarantined in a box-like device that sped her growth from a baby to a 6 year-old and Palty witnessing the murder of a kindly doctor that tried to save her.
Unlike her egotistical and conniving mother, Palty is diligent, gentle and kind. Her trauma also gave her a severe case of claustrophobia, but since meeting Shou, and her decision to excommunicate with her imprisoned mother, her trauma has begun to heal. After her mother's arrest, she was given the choice to remain the Jurai Pirate representative or join the family of her father and become a member of the Royal Family on the planet Jurai. When she realized how valuable her bonds with her friends on Banjo Island had become, she decided to stay with them.
