Sasami brings home a 60% on her latest test from school. Instead of being punished, her parents decide to send her to free-trial classes at a prep school that many of her classmates attend, including Misao. Unfortunately, Pixy Misa returns and targets the same prep school with another Love-love Monster, "Comic Girl".

Full Recap

At school, Hiroto and Kenji tell Sasami's classmates about the magical girl they encountered yesterday, and Misao tells Sasami that she wonders if magical girls really do exist. Misao suddenly experiences flashbacks from when she encountered Ramia just before she transformed into Pixy Misa, but Sasami interrupts her before she could remember anything. Konoha, a girl who has a crush on Hiroto, tries to get his mind off of Pretty Sammy and onto her, but the teacher, Mizutani-sensei, interrupts them by saying that she would like to start class. She announces that two students earned a 100% percent on the latest test, Kenji and Misao.

Sasami shows off Misao's test to a random lady as they are both walking home. She then remembers that the latest issue of the Shonen manga "Dragon S" goes on sale today.

In Juraihelm, Ramia is infuriated with Sasami's care-free attitude. She blames Rumiya (who she has hung into the air with a rope) for failing to defeat Pretty Sammy and tells him to go interfere again. Rumiya says that Juraihelm's priests might find out about what they're doing, but Ramia reasons that even if they do find out, they'll be after him, not her. She then opens a portal to Earth and throws Rumiya through it.

Misao arrives home and is delighted to find out that her mother is there as well. She tries to show her the perfect score she got on the test, but she is only concerned that she is late for prep school. She promptly leaves for work, leaving Misao alone again. Misao is sad about not receiving any praise from her mother but is interrupted by Rumiya—who is in bird form— who begins to hypnotize her into becoming Pixy Misa.

Sasami is walking home with the latest issue of the manga Dragon S when Ryo-Ohki lands on her. He tells her that her parents have decided to keep him as a pet, and a startled Sasami rushes home. There, Ginji and Honoka are eager to learn what Sasami's test score is.

Meanwhile, Pixy Misa has a dance and singing performance just as she arrives at the Success Preparatory School. Rumiya asks her why she chose this place as her target, to which she answers that it just "feels right".

Sasami shows her parents that she got scored a 60% on the test. She assumes she's about to be punished, but they instead congratulate her, though Ginji remarks that he would've gotten a 70% himself. As a reward, Ginji tells Sasami that she can take free-trial classes at the Success Preparatory School, the same prep school that Misao attends. Sasami is initially hesitant until Honoka tells her that if she does well, she'll make sukiyaki for dinner. Ginji then drives her to the prep school on his motorcycle.

Pixy Misa interrupts a class at the prep school which includes some of Sasami's classmates, including Konoha, and introduces herself as their substitute teacher. She tells them that they should balance studying with fun, but Konoha tells Misa that they're here to study and to go and get their real teacher. Misa walks over to Konoha's desk and discovers that she has a copy of Dragon S. Misa declares that everyone should have fun before throwing the book into the air and transforming it into the Love-love Monster "Comic Girl"- a woman with a book for her head and body.

Ginji and Sasami arrive at the classroom just as Comic Girl starts trapping people inside of herself as manga panels. Sasami tries to leave, but Ginji doesn't see the trouble and lightly pushes her inside before closing the door. Pixy Misa welcomes Sasami and tells Comic Girl to start the main show. The Love-love Monster traps the rest of the class inside as a manga panel, but Pixy Misa finds it so funny that she doesn't notice Sasami sneaking out of the room to transform into Pretty Sammy.

Sammy returns and demands that Pixy Misa bring everyone back, but Misa orders Comic Girl (who was in the middle of handling Konoha), to attack Sammy. Comic Girl traps Sammy by squeezing her in between the pages of a massive book, but Konoha tackles Comic Girl, freeing Sammy in the process. Sammy takes the initiative by trapping Comic Girl and Pixy Misa in the Pretty Zone. Misa breaks the fourth wall by noting that this was "the same as last week" and promptly abandons Comic Girl to be annihilated by Sammy's Pretty Coquettish Bomber. Comic Girls goes out in a bang of fireworks in the sky, and as her last words, says that it's okay to study, but also to read manga and watch anime for a change. Ginji, waiting outside and oblivious to the commotion, thinks the fireworks are part of the school's trendiness.

Konoha begrudgingly accepts Pretty Sammy's thanks, but Sammy accidentally calls her by her name, forgetting that she's not Sasami. She escapes into the hall again where she runs into Misao, who has no recollection of what just happened. Misao asks her if she has joined the Prep School, but Sasami points to the giant heart-shaped hole in the ceiling to explain that there were some "complications".

The balance of Gemini shifts slightly toward good in Juraihelm, and Ramia punishes Rumiya by cuffing him onto a rotating wall and spinning him at high speeds.

As Ginji, Sasami, and Misao ride in the sunset on the motorcycle, Sasami tells her father that Misao got a 100% on the test, and Ginji invites Misao over to celebrate with sukiyaki. Misao accepts, and silently thanks Sasami.

Trivia

  • This episode introduces similarities between Misao and Ami Mizuno (Sailor Mercury) from Sailor Moon. They both are shy and reserved, the top students of their class (although Ami is supposedly the smartest in the country), attend prep school (also known in Japan as "Juku"), and are friends with the not-so-smart main protagonist. Fittingly, as their magical benefactors and kindred spirits, this relationship is also mirrored by Ramia and Tsunami, with one being cunning and the other an airhead, respectively.
    • However, while Misao is shown to be a smart girl, for her age, Washu is the one that firlmly takes the role of the genius sci-fi inventor.
  • This episode also parallels the eight episode of Sailor Moon ("The Girl Genius is a Monster? The Brainwashing Cram School of Horror") to a certain extent. In both episodes, the main protagonist (Sasami and Usagi) visit their friend's prep school and battle the "monster of the week" inside one of the classrooms.
  • The acronym AIC can be seen on the cover of the book on Comic Girl's torso, obviously referencing the studio that produced this series.
  • Based on the name and the fact that Sasami describes it as a "shonen", Dragon S is most likely meant to be a knockoff of the popular shonen manga Dragon Ball by Akira Toriyama.
    • Additionally, there appears to be a discrepancy in the manga's name. In the scene where Sasami and Misao are walking home, Sasami refers to it as "Dragon S", but later when Pixy Misa uncovers Konoha's copy of the manga, the cover clearly shows that it's titled "Dragon A".
  • The song that Pixy Misa sings while walking to the prep school is the appropriately-named image song "Mahō Shōjo Pixy Misa Shōka [Magical Girl Pixy Misa's Song]" by Rumi Kasahara.
  • Presumably, Pixy Misa was quick to notice Konoha's hiding place for her manga because she had seen her reading it as Misao in their classroom.
  • Since it is confirmed that Sasami doesn't attend any cram school, save for ths ocassion, and Misao has no friends besides her, it can be safely assumed that Misao spends all her time at cram school alone, as she isn’t on good terms with her classmate at either school: Konoha. Thus considering her complaints as Pixy Misa about a desire for having fun, and not just studying. it's very likely she is also miserable after her regular school hours,
  • In the first Pretty Sammy Novel, which offers a different take on events from a separate continuity, Misao missed attending a prep school class due to being transformed into Pixy Misa. However, her mother, Kotoe, slapped her as punishment for missing the class, adding a darker tone to this version of the story.
  • Contrary to Pixy Misa's claim that she just happened to attacked the prep school she regularly attends as Misao simply because "it felt right," this episode marks the beginning of a pattern: she targets places or people that cause her pain as Misao. For example, being forced to study in a cram school when she wants to have fun, and specifically targeting Konoha, who frequently bullies her.
