Umi no Hoshi’s class 4-3 has yet another transfer student. Hikari Asahina is a girl who immediately becomes a favorite among her classmates and makes friends with Sasami, but she has a strong interest in her “pet” Ryo-Ohki. Indeed, Hikari is actually from Juraihelm and was sent to Earth by Ramia, who used her magic to manipulate her into believing that Sasami is mistreating Ryo-Ohki, her childhood friend.

Full Recap

Mihoshi announces that a new transfer student will be joining class 4-3. Sasami is worried that Boss has returned, but the new student is actually a girl named Hikari Asahina who instantly captures the attention of the class. Hikari is seated next to Sasami and becomes friendly with her, but not so much with Misao, who’s sitting next to Sasami.

Mihoshi is playing the piano for her class in the music room, though the class tells her she's not playing the song she think she is. She then asks if anyone else would like to play. Sasami tells her that Misao is very good at playing the piano, but Misao is clearly shy about playing in front of the class. Unexpectedly, Hikari asks to play, and she turns out to be very talented. She tells Eimi and some other girls that she had written the song about a "very special friend”; the friend in question, of course, being Ryo-Ohki, as the audience is already aware.

Afterward, the class starts playing dodgeball, and Hikari turns out to be as good at the sport as Sasami. Misao, however, is sitting out of the game by herself.

At lunchtime, Sasami sneaks out of the school to the nearby forest to meet with Ryo-Ohki and tells him about Hikari. Ryo-Ohki seems slightly familiar with the name, but ignores it and tells Sasami that she needs to train after school in order to use the magical powers she used against the Lovely Madams. Ryo-Ohki leaves Sasami, but Sasami finds Hikari right behind her, as she was looking for her since lunch was starting and that's "what friends are for". In school, Hikari keeps asking about Ryo-Ohki, wanting to see him, but Sasami sidesteps the topic since she'll be busy training with Ryo-Ohki.

In Juraihelm, Tsunami is currently away on a trip, but Hikari contacts Ramia and Rumiya and tells them that Sasami is really nice and nothing like what Ramia had described. To change her mind, Ramia then acts out Sasami beating up Ryo-Ohki, when in reality, Sasami is the one getting her butt kicked by Ryo-Ohki while training. Nonetheless, Ramia convinces Hikari that she needs to “save” Ryo-Ohki from the evil Pretty Sammy.

Ryo-Ohki and Sasami finish training for the day, but when Ryo-Ohki tells her that her magical abilities will be up to par after a month of training, Sasami says can’t keep up that long and runs away. Later, when Ryo-Ohki is walking by himself through the neighborhood and thinking about what Sasami said, Hikari finds him and picks him up.

The next day at school, Sasami hasn’t seen Ryo-Ohki since yesterday, and Hikari is absent from school, but they are actually both on the school’s rooftop. Hikari tells Ryo-Ohki that she’s here to bring him back to Juraihelm because of how badly Pretty Sammy treats him. Ryo-Ohki tries to tell her that she’s wrong, but Hikari doesn’t listen and drains Ryo-Ohki of his energy by hugging him tightly.

Sasami can’t find Ryo-Ohki at any of the usual spots around the school, but remembers what he said yesterday and leaves to go to where they had trained yesterday, but Misao sees her leave. Meanwhile, Hikari tries calling Ramia to get her to transport her and Ryo-Ohki back to Juraihelm, but Ramia is busy laughing at a manga she’s reading and doesn’t notice her calling.

Sasami goes to where she and Ryo-Ohki trained yesterday but starts crying upon seeing he’s not there, believing that he’d left her without saying anything. However, she starts hearing Ryo-Ohki’s voice telepathically and learns that he’s on the rooftop at the school.

Hikari is still trying to call Ramia when Sasami arrives on the rooftop. Hikari refuses to let Sasami have Ryo-Ohki and changes into her Juraihelm clothing, challenging Sasami to a showdown. Ryo-Ohki notices her red eyes and says that she’s being manipulated by evil magic. He hands the magical baton to Sasami, who transforms into Pretty Sammy.

Pretty Sammy tries using a “minimum power” Pretty Coquettish Bomber so as not to seriously hurt Hikari, but Hikari uses a magical barrier to send the attack right back at Sammy. Hikari explains she has the ability to absorb and reflect magical energy, and she reiterates her intention to pay Sammy back for all the “pain and humiliation” she inflicted upon Ryo-Ohki. Sammy begs Hikari to let her stay with Ryo-Ohki, saying that he’s really, really important to her. This emotional plea activates Pretty Sammy’s real power, and the magical baton places the three of them in the Pretty Zone.

Hikari dares Sammy to attack her, knowing that it’ll go right back to her. When she doesn’t, Hikari attacks her with a blast of energy, but Ryo-Ohki jumps in front of it and gets hit instead. Ryo-Ohki isn't badly injured, but Hikari is confused as to why he would protect her and lowers her guard. Sammy uses Pretty Coquettish Bomber to free Hikari from the evil spell that she’s under.

Ramia, who is still reading manga, is surprised and flabbergasted when Rumiya tells her that Hikari has returned to her normal self.

Hikari reverts back to wearing her school uniform and apologizes to Ryo-Ohki and Pretty Sammy. Ryo-Ohki asks who was the one who cast a spell on her, but before Hikari can answer that it was Ramia, she has to return to Juraihelm. She kisses Ryo-Ohki on his forehead and asks for Sasami to take good care of him. After she leaves, Ryo-Ohki admits he might be a bit homesick.

The next day, Mihoshi announces that Hikari had "transferred" after only a single day. Sasami tells Misao that it’s a shame that she left after becoming their friend, but says that friends can stay friends no matter where they are. Misao, who had up until this point been disheartened from seeing Sasami being friends with someone else, absolves that she’ll always be Sasami’s friend.

Trivia

  • This is the first episode in which Pixy Misa does not appear at all.
  • The song that Mihoshi (incorrectly) plays on the piano, the Tulip Song, is a Japanese nursery rhyme about different colors of tulips.
